Obituary for Marilyn D. Coffey (1954-2025)

Mrs. Marilyn D. Coffey, 70, of Lily, passed away Monday evening, March 17, 2025 at the St. Joseph London Hospital.  She was born on June 15, 1954 in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of the late James T. “Jimmy” and Wilma Jean Logan Jackson.

Marilyn was a former rental services manager with the KCEOC and a member of the Parkway Baptist Church.  She enjoyed tending her flowers, was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed crocheting.  Marilyn was a huge Elvis fan.  She most enjoyed spending time with family, friends and especially her grandchildren.

On July 20, 1974, she united in marriage with Dwain E. Coffey and to this union three children were born.  Following Dwain’s death, she later on June 18, 2018, she united in marriage with James Coffey.

In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Noelle Ball; sisters, Betty Wahlstedt, Gail Sprinkles and an infant sister, Teresa Jackson and grandparents, Woodrow and Cleo Logan and Rev. Jim and Lois Jackson.

Survivors include her loving husband, James Coffey of Lily; daughters, Stacy Marie Carter and Kris, of London, Rebecca Anne Ball and husband, Jason, of Barbourville and Adrienne Michelle Carroll and husband, Richard, of Lexington; sisters, Denise Abner and husband, Steve, of Gray and Diana Miracle and husband, Dempsey, of Middlesboro; cherished grandchildren, Ava Carter, Natalie Akins, Chloe Carroll, Noah Ball, Connor, Chandler and Creed Carroll; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, March 25 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Larry Sowders officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Kris Davis, Jason Ball, Richard Carroll, Noah Ball, Justin Ball, Evan Akins and Connor Carroll.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
