Mrs. Marie Smith, age 79 of Flat Lick, Kentucky entered into her forever home, June 10, 2022, at Hazard ARH Medical Center. She was the daughter of Golden and Ollie Smith Slusher, born to them on February 20, 1943, in Redbird, Kentucky. On April 4, 1960, she united in marriage with Earl Smith and to this union four children were born. She was a member of the Mills Missionary Baptist Church. Marie loved going to church, watching Gunsmoke and Mountain Men, coloring, crossword puzzles, spending time in her flower garden and especially being with family and friends.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Golden and Ollie Slusher, her father and mother-in-law, Wade and Birdie Smith, two sisters-in-law, Nettie Jean Elbert and her husband George and Zelma Lee Hubbard and husband Dave and Farmer Sizemore who she helped raise.
Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-two years, Earl Smith, her four children, Sheila Mason and husband Ricky of Barbourville, Diann Carnes and husband Charles of Walker, Charlotte Stewart and husband James of Flat Lick, Tonya Mills and husband Jerry of Flat Lick, Larry Joe Sizemore who was like a son, thirteen grandchildren, Melanie Johnson, Amanda Trosper and husband Josh, James Mason and wife Denise, Brandon Carnes and wife Megan, Nathaniel Stewart and wife Lindsey, Megan Broughton and husband Braxton, Johnathan Stewart and wife Kimber, Jeremy Stewart, Chandler Mills, Nicholas Stewart, Hannah Stewart, Taylor Mills and Zayden Merida, seventeen great-grandchildren, Rachel, Morgan, Kaylynn, Brayden, Ezekiel, Presley, Colton, Gunner, Hope, Charli Rae, Kinley, Kason, Kingston, Ava, Peyton, Myla and Kash. She also leaves behind many other relatives and dear friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Marie will be conducted on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Herman Mills, Rev. Ricky Mason and Rev. Charles Carnes officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons. She will be laid to rest in the Lige Mills Cemetery on Buckeye Branch Road. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
