Obituary for Marcum “Mark” Spurlock (1950-2024)

Barbourville, Ky. – Marcum “Mark” Spurlock, age 73, of Danville, Indiana, passed away on May 23, 2024 at his home.  He was born on November 23, 1950 in Barbourville, Kentucky, to the late Anna Mae (Higgans) Spurlock and Charlie Spurlock.  He married Stella Smith on December 09, 1968 in Campbell, Tennessee.

Mark was a machinist by trade and also held his Auctioneer’s license.  He was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcats fan, and enjoyed driving on the golf cart with his beloved dog, Jenzee, and wife. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.  Mark was probably most well-known for his amazing green thumb.  His garden was always something to be proud of.  He would share with family and sold his produce locally.  He is in a better place with unlimited dime poker games, gardening, jelly donuts, blue slushies, oatmeal pies, pink starbursts and knife collecting.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Stella Spurlock of Danville, Indiana; son, Mark Allen (Kira) Spurlock of Steens, Mississippi; daughters, Lisa (Kevin) Imlay of Seymour, Indiana, Tina (Jason) Newby of Danville, Indiana, Melanie (Doug) Bush of Darlington, Indiana; and 7 grandchildren, Hannah Newby, Kasey (Newby) Schafer, Austin Schafer, Mady and Masen Bush, Brayden, Carson and Ella Spurlock.  His parents and all of his siblings, Paul, Jerry, William, Ardee, Mary, Martha, Pearl Wyatt, Berneice Pickard and Ruby Disney, preceded him in death.

Pallbearers chosen are Mark Spurlock, Brayden Spurlock, Carson Spurlock, Jason Newby, Austin Schafer, Doug Bush and Masen Bush.
