Ms. Marcella Morris Miller, 91, of Barbourville, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 15, 2019 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Lloyd Branson and Nannie Martin Morris born on June 3, 1928 at Trace Branch.
Marcella moved to Ypsilanti, MI in 1950 and lived there for 60 years before returning to Barbourville in 2010. While in Michigan, she earned a degree in cosmetology and enjoyed a career as a hairdresser for approximately ten years. She began a career in the automotive industry in 1965 and retired from Norris Industries in 1982. She then became an active participant with the Bluegrass Gospel community in Ypsilanti. Marcella was a singer and a self-taught guitarist along with other instruments. She was devoted to her family, countless friends as well as her passion for music.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Wilson and a grandson, Kevin S. Bingham.
Survivors include her three children, Barry K. Bingham and Terry of Belleville, MI, Rita Bingham Kelley and husband, David, of Atlanta, GA and Robin Bingham Reeves and husband, David, of Red Oak, TX; a brother-in-law, Dr. Benny J. Wilson of Barbourville; five grandchildren, Kristin Dougherty and husband, Marty, Aimee Osinski and husband, Chris, Marisa Wheatley and husband, Matthew, Shawn Catlett and wife, Carolyn, and Ryan Kelley and wife, Elizabeth; 10 great grandchildren; four nieces; a nephew; a special cousin and friend, Barbara Morris Trent; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, December 18 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Vernon Morris officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Morris Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Mike Deaton, Roger Deaton, Kevin Hinkle, Gordon Hinkle, Jeff Wilson and Shawn Catlett. Serving as an honorary bearer will be Dr. Benny J. Wilson.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday after 12 noon until the funeral hour.
Expressions of sympathy may go to Carl G. Morris, P.O. Box 336, Heidrick, KY 40949 for the care and maintenance of the Morris Cemetery.
