Obituary for Lynos C. Garland (1945-2022)

Mr. Lynos C. Garland, 76, of Gray, passed away Saturday morning, March 12, 2022 at St. Joseph London.  He was the son of the late James W. and Mattie Payne Garland born on May 6, 1945 at Cannon.

Lynos was a retired carpenter, window installer with Champion Windows and a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, spending time with his brothers and was always ready to give a helping hand to others.

On March 12, 1965, he united in marriage with Beverly Ann Broughton and to this union to sons were born.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Ann Garland; two brothers, Arnold and Bobby Ray Garland and sisters, Norma Wagers, Mary Ellen Byrley, Lillie Likens, Hazel Teague, Christine Jessup, Flory Garland and Ivey Anderson.

Survivors include two dearly loved sons, Linus Dewayne “Dink” Garland and wife, Tonia, and Harold C. “Hank” Garland and wife, Koral; three sisters, Elizabeth Terrell and husband, Drew, Brenda Kay Timm and husband, Wally, and Clara Lunsford; three brothers, Albert, Paul and Rev. Garrett Garland; five cherished grandchildren, MacKenzie Gipson and husband, Lonnie, Samantha Ann Garland, Cody Alexander Garland, Brandi Lynn Garland and Shelbie June Garland; a great granddaughter, Londyn Gipson; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, March 17 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Tony Krahenbuhl, Rev. Brian Davidson and Rev. Garrett Garland officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the 4th floor nurses and staff at St. Joseph London for their excellent care.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday after 12 noon until the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
