Obituary for Lowell “Cotton” Bingham (1966-2021)

Lowell “Cotton” Bingham age 55 of Flat Lick, Kentucky, departed this life on Friday, August 20, 2021 at the Norton Community Hospital in Norton, Virginia. He was the son of Powell Bingham and the late Lizzie Bingham, born to them in Pineville, Kentucky on August 13, 1966.

      He was the husband of Kathy (Mills) Bingham and they were married on April 12, 1991.  Together they share two wonderful children and a beloved grandson, Christopher.

      He was a foreman with Phillips Tree Experts and had been with them for thirty-four years. Cotton loved working and farming, gardening, his cattle, and when he was younger, he enjoyed riding horses. He also loved to watch westerns in the evening while he was resting.

       He was a member of the Mills Missionary Baptist Church and was currently attending Salt Gum Baptist Church.

      He is preceded in death by his mother Lizzie Bingham, his grandparents, Finley and Mary Jane (Bingham) Mills and Hugh Bob and Liza Bingham and his father-in-law, Ben Mills, Jr.

      Left behind to mourn his passing, his loving wife Kathy Bingham, his son, Matthew Bingham and friend Esther Jackson, his daughter Samantha Blair Jones and husband Christopher and his grandson, Christopher Jones, Jr. all of Flat Lick, his father, Powell Bingham, three brothers, Teddy Bingham and wife Mary of Doyle Bingham and Wilbert Dean Bingham and wife Mickey all of Scalf, sisters, Carol Ward and husband Russell of Scalf, Mary Ann Lewis and husband Ray, Delaine Meade and husband Shawn and Elaine Jackson and husband Les all of Corbin, a brother-in-law, Mike Mills and his mother-in-law, Armarita Mills both of Flat Lick. He also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends.

      Funeral services for Cotton Bingham will be conducted on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kennon Roark and Rev. Donnie Mills officiating. Pallbearers will be family & friends. Honorary pallbearers will be all his co-workers and friends with Phillips Tree Experts. He will be laid to rest in the Lester Mills Cemetery at Scalf. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

      Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
