Mrs. Loretta Phipps Mills, 81, of Barbourville, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 26, 2022 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Commie Dore and Mattie Epperson Dunn born on March 9, 1941 in Bell County.
Loretta was a former nurse aide with the Knox County Hospital and a member of the Big Brush Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, working word search puzzles, gardening and spending time with her pet, Ruby.
On March 8, 1958, she united in marriage Arthur Codell Phipps and to this union five children were born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Jack and Roger Dale Dunn.
Survivors include her beloved children, Tim Phipps and wife, Gail, of Gray, Dale Phipps and wife, Jennifer, of Woodbine, Vickie Moore and husband, Chuck, of Gray, Donnie Phipps and wife, Pam, of Columbia and Kimberly Terrell of Corbin; five siblings, Rev. Alvin Dunn and wife, Bonnie, of Cannon, Mary Hammond and husband, Lucky, Commie Dunn and wife, Mary, all of St. Augustine, FL, Larry Dunn and wife, Pat, of Lima, OH and Kathi Baker and husband, Keith, of Statesville, NC; eleven treasured grandchildren, Wayne Phipps and wife, Kacie, Heather Smith and husband, Jason, Matthew Phipps, Cassidy Pearce and husband, Brad, Ashley Engle and husband, Dwayne, Ryan Moore and wife, Brooke, Adam Moore, Josh Phipps, Rachel Phipps, Daniel Terrell and wife, Carmen, and Megan Abner and husband, Chris; 13 great grandchildren; special friend, Gene Hubbs; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, March 30 at 12 Noon with Rev. Daniel Terrell, Rev. Wayne Phipps and Rev. Dale Phipps officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary bearers will be Dr. West, the nurses and staff of the Barbourville ARH Hospital and the staff of Bowling Pharmacy.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Wednesday prior to the funeral hour.
