Mrs. Loretta M. “Nanny” Gray, 74, of Barbourville, passed away Saturday morning, August 12, 2023 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Birchell and Belle Gambrel Hubbard born May 7, 1949 at Cole’s Branch.
Loretta was the former executive director for the Barbourville Housing Authority and also worked at Warners for many years. She was a member of the New Beginnings Worship Center. She enjoyed collecting nutcrackers and any kind of apple decorations. She was the family cook and loved to share and nurture any and all with her delicious meals.
On June 18, 1966, she united in marriage with Lee Ray Gray and to this union three sons were born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; a dearly loved son, Jason Ray Gray; a niece, Susan Riley and parents-in-law, Zander and Myrtle Asher Gray.
Survivors include her loving sons, Rev. Timothy Lee Gray and wife, Carry, and Michael Wade Gray all of Barbourville; a sister, Joyce Faye Mills and husband, C. J., of Cole’s Branch; a brother, Mitchell Jessie Hubbard of Barbourville; a special granddaughter, who helped care for her, Brittney Cheyenne Gray and granddaughter, Jessica Hinkle and husband, Gary; four grandsons, Micah Gray, Brandon Tyler Gray and wife, Cassie, and Joshua and Justin Gray; great grandchildren, Hunter, Jason, Fischer, Makinlee, Lucas, Maizy, Octavia, Kayden and Jayden; a special uncle, Howard Hubbard; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Following Mrs. Gray’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held in the Cole’s Branch Cemetery with her family officiating.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
