Obituary for Loranzy “Dow” Bunch (1949-2021)

Mr. Loranzy “Dow” Bunch72, of Smokey, passed away Saturday evening, October 23, 2021 at his home.  He was the son of the late Joe and Amelia Powell Bunch born on June 12, 1949 in Knox County.

Dow was a former backhoe operator with the Knox County Road Department and of the Baptist faith.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time talking to his friends at Lee’s.

On November 4, 1992, he united in marriage with Patty Robinson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patty Bunch; a brother, Joel Lee Bunch and a grandson, Johnathan Roberts.

Survivors include his children, Dale Bunch and wife, Cathy, of Girdler and Joey Bunch and wife, Kathie, of Barbourville; step-children, Larry Roberts, Shelia Mills and husband, J. D., Robbie Roberts and wife, Tonya, and Samantha Daniels all of Barbourville; sisters, Bobbie Powell of Bimble and Pauletta Broughton; brothers, David Bunch and wife, Kristen, Bill Bunch and wife, Judy, all of Michigan, Michael Bunch and wife, Jeania, of Barbourville and Joe Bunch Jr. of Indiana; grandchildren, Benjamin Stuber, Kasey Tackett and husband, Drew, Alex Daniels, Cassie Hale, Teddy Baker, Kelsey Daniels, Christian Bunch, Rebecca Grubb and husband, Darrin, Dalton, Joey and Gina Bunch, Amelia Jo Napier, Madi Fields and Sophia Mills; great grandchildren, Donathan and Kailee Roberts, Harper Mayer, Shelby and Carter Mills and Harleigh Mayer; a special niece, Mickey Warren and husband, Ralph; a host of other nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, October 29 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Rick Broughton and Rev. Ken Merida officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Christian Bunch, Dalton Bunch, Ben Stuber, Billy Mayer, Darrin Grubb and Lance Broughton.  Honorary bearers will be the Knox County Road Department, Lee Mart Coffee Club, Dr. Paul Pedersen and his staff and Hospice of the Bluegrass.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Friday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
