Mr. Lonnie E. Elliott, 73, of Barbourville, passed away Monday afternoon, November 28, 2022 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. He was the son of the late Lee and Nadine Mason Elliott born on May 5, 1949 in Bell County.
Lonnie was a retried truck driver with Mills Brothers Garbage Service, a member of River Baptist Church and faithfully served his county in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and loved to watch westerns. Lonnie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
On October 7, 1967, he united in marriage with Nadine Mills and to this union three children were born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Payne and Jessie Elliott and a brother, James Elliott.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Nadine Elliott of Barbourville; three beloved children, Lonnie Keith Elliott and wife, Cindy, Johnny Lee Elliott and fiancé, Angie Shelton, and Gregory Lynn Elliott and wife, Sarah Jane, all of Barbourville; two sisters, Darlene and Imogene Smith; a sister-in-law, Doris Elliott; cherished grandchildren, Roy David Powell and fiancé, April Davis, Ashley Slusher and husband, Cody, Brittany Elliott, Tabitha Taylor and husband, Jacob, Ethan, Bella and Kristin; great grandchildren, Addison, Madison, Gracie, Emily, Emmett, Michael, Karsyn, Everly and Wyatt; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, December 4 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Dewayne Smith and Rev. Lonnie Collett officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Billy Elliott, Billy Mills, Ted Hobbs, Rodney Blair, Rick Mills and Roger Mills. Honorary bearers will be Dr. James West, Dr. Paul Pedersen and staff at Mills Brothers Garbage Service.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Sunday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
