Mrs. Lois Shular, 79, of Gray, formerly of Toledo, OH, passed away Wednesday evening, February 3, 2021 at the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the daughter of the late Nelson and Mirah Smith born on March 24, 1941 in Knox County.
Lois was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She had many hobbies, her imaginative craft and talent was unimaginable. She could make a needle talk! Her imagination occupied her time. She loved embroidery, cross-stitching and crafts, but most of all she had an avid passion for crocheting. One of her longest projects included crocheting a bedspread of roses that took more than a half a year. Her determination and imagination is one thing that stood out about her. She lived an independent life and grew closer to God. In the last months of her life, Lois became bedfast, but her outlook on life remained positive. One of our most recent memories include the beautiful smile she had on her face and her witty response, “I love you more!”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Shular and other siblings.
Survivors include two loving sons, Ricky Hammons and wife, Nicki, and Randall Hammons all of Gray; a cherished grandson, Jaxton Hammons; among other loved ones and dear friends.
A graveside service will be conducted in the Barbourville Cemetery Saturday, February 6 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Bill Mills officiating.
Casket bearers will be Johnny Broughton, Dustin Centers, Jaxton Hammons, Robby Partin, Scotty Partin and Cody Swafford. Honorary bearers will be the caring staff of the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Friends may call at the cemetery Saturday prior to the service time.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
