Obituary for Litha Smith Gambrel Brown (1932-2020)

Mrs. Litha Smith Gambrel Brown, age 87 of Barbourville, was born in Knox County, KY on May 4, 1932 to the late Joseph and Chrissy Grubb Smith and departed this life on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 in the Hazard ARH Hospital.  She was a Member of Boone Heights Holiness Church and enjoyed caring for family, working in her flowers, going to Church, Cooking, and time with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, a husband: Virgil Gambrel; 3 sons: Larry Joe Gambrel, Earl Dean Gambrel, and Danny Dean Gambrel; a daughter: Mary Lou Gambrel; 4 brothers: General Smith, Wesford Smith, Wade Smith, and Alfred Smith; and 2 sisters: Gladys Stewart and Martha Morris preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband: Daw Brown, Jr. of Scalf; 3 daughters: Wilma Jean Honeycutt and husband Cecil of Flat Lick, Jenetta Gambrel and husband Clyde of Gray, and Penny LaVone Brown of Scalf; 5 sons: David Gambrel of Corbin, Ricky Gambrel of Flat Lick and wife Dora of Scalf, Donnie Gambrel of Walker, Billy Lee Gambrel of Dewitt, and Lonnie Ray Gambrel of Flat Lick; 3 brothers: Joe Smith, Jr. of Girdler, David Smith and wife Geneva of Bimble, and J. L. Smith and wife Cleda of LaFollette, TN; 44 grandchildren; and a host of great and great-great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Litha Brown will be conducted in the Barbourville Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Steven Brown bringing the Message and Rev. Charles Henson having Obituary, Prayer, and Comments.  Burial will follow in the Lidge Mills Cemetery with family and friends serving as Pallbearers.  Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Friends may call at the Barbourville Funeral Home Saturday Evening from 6 to 9 P.M. and Sunday from 10 A.M. to the funeral hour at 2.
