Mrs. Linda J. West, 76, of Barbourville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 15, 2023 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Arnold T. and Mildred June Deaton Goins born on February 24, 1947 in Barbourville.
Linda earned a Masters Degree in Labor Relations and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Louisville Law School. She was a retired managing attorney from the Bell County DPA and a member of the Beacon Baptist Church. Linda enjoyed making calendars and stockings, painting, completing crossword puzzles and reading.
On July 6, 1968, she united in marriage with James R. West Sr. and to this union two children were born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Arthur and Flossie Deaton; an uncle, Bob Deaton and wife, Dottie, and a great aunt, Gracie Partin.
Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, James R. West Sr.; two children, Dr. James R. West Jr. and wife, Crystal, and Joy Johnson and husband, Armand; cherished grandchildren, Tristen, Grayson, June and Alysa Johnson and Conor West; a great granddaughter, Amiyah Johnson; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, March 22 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Dennis Chestnut and Rev. Pat Chestnut officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Goins Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Conor West, Corey Hibbard, Tyler Hubbard, Dalton Meadors, Richie Meadors and Christian Meadors. Serving as honorary bearers will be Grayson Johnson, Tristen Johnson, the staff of Barbourville ARH Hospital and her church family at Beacon Baptist Church.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
