Obituary for Lewis Harold Hamilton (1945-2021)

Mr. Lewis Harold Hamilton, age 76 of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 in the St. Joseph Hospital in London. He was born on September 6, 1945 the son of Burgess and Nannie Belle (Sears) Hamilton. On March 21, 1971, he united in marriage with Bertie Burnett and to this union two children were born.

     He attended Payne’s Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, cars, watching UK sports, Nascar and the Cincinnati Reds. He was an avid pool player and an award-winning marksman. He served his country in the United State Army and had been quartermaster at the local VFW post 5425 and was an adjunct officer of the American Legion post #69.

      He is preceded in death by his wife, Bertie Hamilton, one brother Doyle Hamilton and one sister, Reda Justice.

      Left behind to mourn his passing, his two loving children, son, Matthew Hamilton of Barbourville and Crystal Dixon and husband Mark also of Barbourville, four grandchildren, Lauren Hamilton, Peyton Hamilton, Samantha Salyer and Kristen Hamilton. He also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

      Funeral services for Mr. Hamilton will be conducted in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Allen Wagner officiating. Pallbearers will be family & friends. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

      Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
