Mrs. Lela Doris Lumpkins, 90, of Cannon, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 19, 2019 at her home. She was the daughter of the late George and Ethel Lee Jackson Doan born on April 6, 1929 at Cannon.
Lela was a homemaker and a member of the Sinking Valley Baptist Church. She enjoyed watching WLJC, tending flowers and spending time with her grandchildren.
On September 4, 1947, she united in marriage with David Andrew Lumpkins and to this union two children were born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David and a sister, Geneva Murphy.
Survivors include her children, Linda Morris and husband, Gene, and Bonnie Howell and husband, Ray, all of Cannon; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, November 23 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Vernon Morris, Rev. William R. “Man” Cobb and Rev. Roy Vaughn officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Payne Cemetery at Bimble.
Casket bearers will be Darryl Smith, Stacy Abner, Bobby Carmack, Denny Mills, Todd Partin and Will Stewart. Honorary bearers will be Connie Vanderpool, Beverly Evans and Christina Killion.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Saturday prior to the funeral hour.
Expressions of sympathy may go to the WLJC television station in her memory.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
