Obituary for Larry Wayne Lawson (1957-2022)

Mr. Larry Wayne Lawson, 64, of Gray, passed away Tuesday morning, March 15, 2022 at his home.  He was the son of the late Arthur Clyde and Dorothy Abner Lawson born on December 11, 1957 at Artemus.

Larry was a former coal miner, where he spent more than 40 years devoting his time.  In 2019, he retired and spent his time enjoying time with family and friends, spending time with the McDonald’s Club and watching NASCAR and westerns.

On November 6, 2004, he united in marriage with Norma Jean Mills and to this union two children were born.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Jerry Lawson.

Survivors include his loving wife, Norma Lawson of Gray; two children, Larry Wayne Lawson and wife, Kristi, of Artemus and Nickie Ward of Corbin; two brothers, Sam Lawson  and Donnie Lawson and wife, Annette, all of Artemus; eight sisters, Betty June Deaton of Louisville, Shirley Osborne of Brownstown, MI, Wilma Lawson of Erlanger, Pauletta Harris of Barbourville, Brenda Honeycutt of Heidrick, Phyllis Little of Barbourville, Belinda Cordell of Artemus and Shanna Elsigian of Allen Park, MI; seven grandchildren, Jacob, Bentley and Allie Ward, Dakota, Alezandria, Brayden and Matilda Lawson; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Monday, March 21 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Donald Smith and Rev. Preston Mills officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Dakota Lawson, Darrel Mills, Steve Smith, Jonah Messer, Spencer Scott and Chuck Broyles.  Honorary bearers will be his friends and neighbors.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Monday prior to the funeral hour.
