Mr. Larry Wayne Black, 54, of Barbourville, passed away Wednesday morning, November 17, 2021 at his home. He was the son of Daisy Lee Hurst Patterson and the late Jimmy “Duggs” Black born on June 1, 1967 in Barbourville.
Larry was a former General Motors employee and of the Baptist faith. He was a gifted musician who played several instruments including the guitar which he could make “sing”, loved working on cars and enjoyed reading.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Black.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Hembree of Barbourville; his loving mother, Daisy Patterson of Corbin; eight children, Vanessa Lane and husband, Adam, of Speedwell, TN, Tonya Womack and husband, Jeff, of Tazewell, TN, Sonya Gray of Harrogate, TN, Christopher Black and wife, Brittany, Speedwell, TN, Leah Messer and husband, Patrick, of Girdler, Eric Black, Mariah Black and Jerry Reynolds all of Corbin; a sister, Shirley Black of Barbourville; 12 grandchildren; a special niece, Malinda Black of Louisville; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, November 21 at 2 P.M. He will be laid to rest in the Farley Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Patrick Messer, Jeff Womack, Jess Hubbard, Austin Michael, Jackson Hibbard and Aaron Roark. Serving as honorary bearers will be Zayden Michael and Brayden Spencer.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
Expressions of sympathy may go to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
