Mr. L.R. Wagers age 78 of Lexington, Kentucky, departed this life on Friday, July 31, 2020 in the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He was born on March 19, 1942 in Knox County the son of Lloyd Wagers and Birdie (Johnson) Wagers. Mr. Wagers believed in God and he had a love of nature especially birds. He also enjoyed fishing and coon hunting and loved to garden.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Birdie Wagers, four brothers, Woodrow, Virgil, Lloyd Jr., and Jimmy and four sisters, Lillie May, Brenda Ruth, Mary Catherine and Cora.
Survivors include, two sons, Marvin Edwards of Lexington and Wendell Wagers and wife Judy of Cannon, four daughters, Birtie Almgren and partner Wayne Simmons of London, Lisa McKinney of Georgetown, Rita De Le Cruz of Texas and Iva Nicole Wagers and husband Omar Corona of Lexington, two brothers, Ernest Wagers of Owenton and Billy Wagers of Sadieville, three sisters, Rosa Brewer and husband Leroy of Owenton, Virginia Aldridge and husband Lloyd, Jr. of Sadieville and Linda Ragsdale of Elkhart, Indiana. He also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Wagers will be conducted in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Charles Eversole and Rev. Roy Eversole officiating. Pallbearers will be, Charlie Almgren, Omar Corona, Gabriel Ramirez, Jonithon Almgren, Christopher Wagers and John Michael Allen. He will be laid to rest in the Mooneyham-Patterson Cemetery at Bimble. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Please remember during the ongoing pandemic, there will be capacity restrictions and social distancing guideline that we will need to follow during all our services. This will include wearing a face covering as mandated by the Governor of Kentucky for the safety of our families, visitors and staff.
