Obituary for Kenneth Smith (1961-2025)

Mr. Kenneth Smith, 64, of Woollum, passed away Saturday morning, March 22, 2025 at his daughter’s home.  He was born February 2, 1961 at Woollum, the son of the late Rev. Abe and Hazel Smith.

Kenneth was an employee of Forest Products and a member of the Knox County Saddle Club.  He enjoyed riding horses, watching NASCAR, attending four-wheeler races and riding his side by side.  He treasured his grandchildren and was always present at their sporting events, cheering them on with much pride and love.  Kenneth accepted Jesus as his Savior shortly before his death, finding the peace that passes all understanding.

On July 11, 1985, he united in marriage with Marilyn Keen, who preceded him in death.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by sisters, Odie Abner and Lena Trent; a brother, Otis Smith; nieces, Angela Smith and Natasha Keen; a sister-in-law, Paige Keen and brothers-in-law, Wayne Keen and Gilbert Hensley.

Survivors include his loving daughter, Kayla Mills and husband, Jeremy, of Woollum; sisters, Barbara Hensley of Girdler and Emma Keen of Manchester; a brother, Robert Smith and wife, Betty, of Michigan; cherished grandchildren, Brady Mills and Regan and Kaylee Mills; great grandson, Drake Mills,  lovingly known as “Little Britches”; several nieces and nephews among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, March 27 at 2 P.M. with Chad Abner and Kathy Justice officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Calvin Jordan Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Jeremy Mills, Brady Mills, Kameron Rose, Larkin Abner, Matthew Smith and Bradley Smith.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Thursday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
