Mr. Kenneth Ray Hughes Jr., 66, of Barbourville, passed away Wednesday morning, December 25, 2019 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. He was the son of Charline Dorsey Hughes and the late Kenneth Ray Hughes Sr. born on November 26, 1953 in Barbourville.
Kenny was a retired welder from Arch Minerals and a member of the First Baptist Church – Church Street. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, swimming and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid NASCAR fan and was known for his famous pound cakes and fried fish.
He united in marriage with Dora Rachelle Bledsoe.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ethel Dorsey and a grandson, Cody Carton.
Survivors include his loving wife, Dora Hughes of Barbourville; his mother, Charline Hughes of Barbourville; six children, Sonoma Carton of Barbourville, Nicole Carton of Dayton, OH, Jason Hughes of Louisville, Rodney Hughes and wife, Sonya, of Barbourville, Travis Hughes and fiancé, Rachell Bronz, of Logan, WV and Brandon Bryson of Corbin; two sisters, Diane York and Robert and Sharon White all of Barbourville; two brothers, Elandon Hughes and wife, Sandy, of Artemus and Carter Hughes and Teresa of Barbourville; 19 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, December 31 at 2 P.M. with Pastors David Johnson, Craig Clark and Pam Reed officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Hughes Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Julius Blalock, Tyrone Blalock, Cleadous Bledsoe, Tony Bledsoe, Randy Clark and Jeff Clark. Honorary bearers will be David Johnson, Paul Baker, Randall Roach and Larry Evans.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday after 12 noon until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
