Ms. Kacie Nicole West, 30, of Heidrick, passed away Friday afternoon, May 3, 2024 at her home. She was the daughter of Soundra Faye Gilbert West and the late Vernon Dean West Jr. born on August 24, 1993 in Barbourville.
Kacie believed in the Baptist faith and was a psychology major at Union College. She enjoyed reading, writing short stories, listening to music, drawing and animals, especially her pet cats. She delighted in picking on her younger brother.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by grandparents, Arnold Gilbert, Vernon West Sr. and Helen West Mills and Mike Smith, who was like a father to her.
She is survived by her loving mother, Soundra West and Tony Bowser of Tedders Creek; her dearly loved brother, Steven Tyler Cole of Tedders Creek; grandmother, Pearl Gilbert of Tedders Creek; special cousins, Phillip Vaughn lovingly known as “Uncle Phil” and Brandin Vaughn, who she thought of as a little brother; special aunts and uncles, Wilma and Rev. Donnie Vaughn and Delora and Rev. Duke Hammons; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, May 8 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Donnie Vaughn and Rev. Duke Hammons officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Taylor Cemetery at Blackwater.
Casket bearers will be Brandin Vaughn, Tony Bowser, Allen Messer, Dylan Messer, Tony Burnette and Eric Taylor. Honorary bearers will be Dr. Todd and Katherine Stokes.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
