Mrs. Judy Ann Owens, 72, of Gray, was born November 26, 1948 and passed away September 14, 2021 at Baptist Health Corbin. She was the loving wife of Donald Owens for over 58 years.
Judy was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a dedicated member of the Beacon Baptist Church. Judy enjoyed traveling, cooking, shopping and was a faithful UK Wildcats fan. Her greatest enjoyment was the time that she spent with her family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Imogene Gross Elliott Felts; a brother, Roy Lee Elliott and sisters, Rhonda Jean Hatfield and Helen Faye Elliott.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Owens of Gray; her five dear children who she cherished, Donna Owens Brewer of Corbin, Debbie Owens Riggs and husband, Jim, of Franklin, IN, Donnie Owens of Gray, Rachal Owens Scalf and husband, Teddie, of Corbin and Ana Owens Hensley and husband, Dustin, of Gray; a sister, Christine Engle of Gray; her brother-in-law, Johnny Hatfield of Corbin and her uncle, Lester “Buck” Elliott of Gray; grandchildren, Austin Riggs and wife, Brooke, of Franklin, IN, Owen J. T. Riggs of Franklin, IN, Reid and Reagan Brewer of Barbourville, Khloe and Kamden Scalf of Corbin; she was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her future great granddaughter, Aria Riggs; nephew, Vernon Engle Jr. and wife, Carrie, of Gray; nieces, Darlene Stidham and husband, Jeff, of London and Christy Pennington of Corbin; two great nieces, Kailey Stidham and Allie Pennington and many other family and friends who mourn her passing.
Her funeral service will be conducted at the Beacon Baptist Church Sunday, September 19 at 2 P.M. with Bro. Dennis Chesnut and Bro. Pat Chesnut officiating. Entombment will follow the service in the Donald and Judy Owens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Austin Riggs, Owen Riggs, Reid Brewer, Corey Owens, Logan Owens, Larry Marler, Vernon Engle Jr., Jeff Jones, Mike Owens and Todd Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Calloway, Frank Townsley, Jim Smith, Hershel Hicks and Danny Edwards.
The family would like to express their special thanks to the members of the Beacon Baptist Church, Pastor Dennis Chesnut, Lula Mills and Kelsey Hinkle for all the love and care they showed to our mother.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday between 6 and 9 P.M. and at the church Sunday after 1 P.M. until the funeral hour.
The family requests that all visitors wear a facial covering and practice social distancing during the visitation and funeral service.
