Mr. John Robert Hensley, 77, of Walker, departed this life on Friday evening, November 20, 2020 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. He was the son of the late Almond and Wealtha Bingham Hensley born to them on January 20, 1943 in Knox County.
John was a retired Kentucky Department of Transportation employee and a member of the Salt Gum Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching Sister Margaret and NASCAR racing on television and spending time with his dog, Rowdy.
He united in marriage with Anna Mae Mills and to this union two children were born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae Hensley.
Survivors include his beloved daughters, Brittany Smith and husband, Dewayne, of Barbourville and Sherry Faulkner and husband, William, of Walker; two dearly loved grandsons, Jack Smith and Colby Faulkner; a special sister, Betty Lou Bingham of Walker; sister-in-law, Linda Sue Mills of Barbourville; brother-in-law, S. T. Mills and wife, Cindy; special cousins, Frank D. Bingham, Ken Carnes and Junior Hubbard; among other loved ones and dear friends.
A private family funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Monday, November 23 with Rev. Ken Merida and Rev. Kennon Roark officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Robert Bingham Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be S. T. Mills, Wesley Roark, Marty Smith, Ken Carnes, Junior Hubbard, Roger Bingham and Lee Tyler Bingham. Honorary bearers will be employees of the Kentucky Department of Transportation Knox County Garage and Knox County EMS.
A drive-thru visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday from 12:30 until 1:30 P.M.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to his caregivers that provided his care at home, Loretta and Delvin Smith and Tyler Bingham as well as Dr. West, the staff of the Barbourville ARH Hospital and the Knox County EMS.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.

Any person entering the funeral home is expected to be wearing a face covering of some kind at all times including graveside services and maintain the six feet of social distance.
