Obituary for John “Johnny” Hammons (1952-2020)

Mr. John “Johnny” Hammons, 68, husband of Dianna Watkins Hammons, passed away Friday, October 16, 2020 in Louisville. He was born in Barbourville on January 8, 1952 to the late Evie E. Hammons Jr. and Beulah Frost Hammons.

Johnny retired as a Team Member from Toyota Logistics. He enjoyed model trains, was a car enthusiast, served in the Army Reserves and was a former CBer, whose handle was “Sledge Hammer”.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary “Rod” Hammons and Jack Hammons.

In addition to his wife, Dianna, Johnny is survived by his sons, John C. Hammons II and wife, Tamara, of Union and Joe Hammons and wife, Jenna, of Floyds Knobs, IN; grandchildren, Kelsey Hammons, Ava Hammons, Cali Hammons and Eslie Hammons; a brother, Terry Hammons of Mt. Vernon, IL; a sister, Mildred Higgins of Louisville; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral home Tuesday, October 20 at 2 P.M.  He will be laid to rest in the Farley Cemetery at Himyar.

Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, October 19, 2020 from 5pm to 8 pm at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home and friends may call at the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
