Mr. John Douglas “ Pennsylvania Doug” Svihla, age 82 of Barbourville was born in Sturgeon, PA on May 24, 1942 to the late John Carl Svihla and Helen Tropeck Svihla and departed this life on September 2, 2024 at his home. He was of the Catholic Faith and enjoyed fishing, going to the beach, riding his trike, researching history, and time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents: John Carl Svihla and Helen Tropeck; a brother: Bob Svihla preceded him in death.
John is survived by his loving children: Heather Baranowski and husband Eric of Perkasie, IN, Heidi Hensley of Pineville and Michael Joe Hensley of Barbourville, and Hilary Svihla and husband Michael Brady of Brooklyn, NY; 7 grandchildren: Amanda Baranowski, Gavin Baranowski, Ashley Robinson, Jacob Kozlow, Tina Nakonechny, Abigail Hensley, and Seamus Brady; one great grandchild on the way; other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.
