Mr. John C. “J. C.” Taylor, 70, of Bimble, passed away Sunday morning, July 10, 2022 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. He was the son of Oda Smith Taylor and the late Harlan Taylor born on September 11, 1951 in Knox County.
J. C. was a heavy equipment operator and in earlier years had been a truck driver, a carpenter and a Knox County school bus driver. He was of the Holiness faith. He enjoyed playing the guitar, violin and piano, restoring classic cars, auto racing, fishing and riding horses.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a niece, Buffy Smith and a brother-in-law, Larry Chadwell.
Survivors include his loving mother, Oda Taylor of Hinkle; fiancé, Lalita Jacob of Bimble; children, Lorie Taylor, Lanie Taylor, Sharon Gray and husband, Chris, and Kiera Lee, who he loved as a daughter, all of Knox County; sisters, Dennia Chadwell and James of Girdler, Wilma Lee Sherrod and husband, Mark, of Knoxville, TN and Carol Chavies and husband, Dennis, of Himyar; two brothers, Harlan Taylor and wife, Joy, of Girdler and T. J. Taylor and wife, Sheila, of Boyle County; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, July 14 at 8 P.M. with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Calvin Jordan Cemetery Friday, July 15 at 11 A.M.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.
Friends may call at the funeral Thursday after 6 P.M. until the funeral hour. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home Friday at 10 A.M. to travel in procession to the cemetery for the committal service.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
