Paducah, Ky. – Joe Otis Jackson, age 89, left this earth for his heavenly home on Thursday morning, November 21, 2019, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Mr. Jackson passed away at his beloved daughter’s home in West Paducah under the care of Mercy Health Hospice. Joe was the son of the late Bessie Bingham Jackson and John A. Jackson happily born to them on June 12, 1930. Joe was a devoted member of the Greasey Creek Baptist Church in Pineville.
Left behind to mourn Joe’s passing, is his daughter Norma Tilford (Keith) of West Paducah, Ky.; his son, Joe Thomas Jackson (MaryNell) of Henderson, Tn.; an adopted daughter, Kimberly Smith (Jason) of Barbourville and two step children: Kim Gambrell (David) and Maharis Gray (Jamie) both of Pineville. Four siblings mourn his passing – brothers: Wolf Jackson (Nadine) and Clyde Jackson (Wilma), both of Clair Shores, MI. and his sisters: Lois Taylor of Pineville and Shirley Mae Slusher of Cynthiana, Ky. Many beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren are also left to mourn his passing. Grandchildren: Allie Hobbs Lucas (Tony), Eric Jackson, Terri Peeler (Wes), Mandi Jackson, Joee Hobbs, Chad Gambrell (Chassidy), and Seretta Epperson (Chris). Great grandchildren: Samuel Lucas, Nora Lucas, Myra Peeler, Jenna Patterson, Ean Peeler, Josie Hensley, Journey Smith, Ava Gambrell, Emory Gambrell, Olivia Gambrell, and Lillie Epperson.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Seretta Baker Jackson, and two sons; Gary and Tony Jackson. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Joyce Cole Jackson; a step daughter Greta Gray; two brothers: Vernon and Johnny Jackson; and a sister, Imogene Jackson.
The Funeral Service for Mr. Jackson will be held Sunday, November 24, 2019 at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m with Pastor Keith Tilford, Joe’s son-in-law, officiating. Burial will follow in the Jackson Family plot at the Barbourville City Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, November, 23, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. for family and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. for friends. Family and friends may also visit on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
