Joan Detherage Bruner, age 79, of Corbin, passed away at her home in Corbin, KY, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Trosper, Kentucky, she was a homemaker and member of Lily Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. T. Detherage, father, Roswell T. Hembree, parents, Edith Milton Hembree Bays and Fred Bays Sr., stepson, Orville Bruner, siblings, Charles Willis Bays, Joe Alfred and Grace Bays, Robert G. and Judy Bays, Fred Bays Jr., and Kathy Bays, Jeanette Bays Hammons Moran and Jack Moran, Jerry S. Bays, Lillian Hembree Lawson and James Durwood Lawson, and George Lynn Hembree, and by a brothers-in-law, Mitchell Abner and Don Kronenbitter.
Joan is survived by her husband, Eugene Bruner Sr., children, John Detherage and Kathy, Sherri Detherage Blevins and Mike, Eugene Bruner Jr. and Lisa, and Gary Bruner, grandchildren, Bob Blevins and LeeAnn, Samantha Blevins Smith and Tim, Katie Detherage Peery and David, Sadie Blevins, Natalie Detherage Lorimer and Matt, Monica Bruner, Andrew Bruner, Megan Walker and Chris, and Morgan Bruner, siblings, Mildred (Micke) Bays Kronenbitter, Kenneth and Joan Hembree, and Geraldine Hembree Smith, sisters in law, Carolyn Abner and Nora Bays, great grandchildren, Nolan, Cade, Audree Joann, Kaylynn, Cash, J.T., Cooper, Cordelia, Cameron, Jazmaine, and Nash, and by numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Visitation will be from 1pm until 3pm on Sunday June 4, 2023, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where her funeral service will be held at 3pm with Rev. Allen Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Stewart Cemetery in Artemus, KY.
