Mr. Jimmy R. Bargo, 78, of Heidrick, passed away Monday afternoon, February 24, 2025 at his home. He was the son of the late James C. and Ethel Smith Bargo born October 11, 1946 in Bell County.
Jimmy was a born again Christian of the Baptist faith who served as a deacon and teacher for many years. He was also the owner and operator of Bargo Starter and Alternator Service. He was active in many local clubs, including the Knox County Sportsman Club, EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) and HOG (Harley Owners Group) London Wildcat Harley Chapter. Jimmy enjoyed bass fishing, riding his motorcycle and was a private pilot for many years.
On May 1, 1965 he united in marriage with Elizabeth Ann Henson in Barbourville and this union was blessed with three sons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Bruner and her husband, Ed; brothers, Donnie Wayne and Paul Darrel Bargo; mother and father-in-law, Roy Jr. and Ruby Henson; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Katherine Bays; first cousin, Donnie Vance; daughter-in-law, Amy Merida Bargo and life-long friend, Tommy Engle.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Ann Bargo of Heidrick; sons, Timothy Bargo and wife, Loretta, Michael Bargo and wife, Pam and Christopher Bargo and wife, Melissa, all of Heidrick; cherished grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Bargo and fiancé, Josh, Jessica Bargo, Matthew Bargo and wife, Amber, Joey Bargo and wife, Molly, Alex Bargo and fiancé, Ashley, Brandon Bargo, Emmaleigh Keith and husband, Dyllan, Hannah Mize and Jessie Mize and wife, Desha; great-grandchildren, Aimee Kate, Aubrey, Payton, Gracie, Marley, Paisley, Preslyn, Ellie, Evan and Remington; brother-in-law, James Henson and wife, Judy, of Clarksville, TN; sister-in-law, Brenda Bargo; his bassin’ buddies, Lanny and Lonnie Carter; the Starter Shop Loafers Club: Jeff Frederick, Donnie Hobbs, Merrell Bargo, David Grubb and Bill Frazier; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, February 28 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Ken Merida and Rev. Jared Styles officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers will be Joey Bargo, Jessie Mize, Brandon Bargo, Matt Bargo, Alex Bargo and Paul Steven Bargo.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
