Obituary for Jeweldine “Judy” Cobb (1942-2020)

Mrs. Jeweldine “Judy” Cobb, 77, of Woollum, passed away Sunday morning, February 16, 2020 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital.  She was the daughter of the late Rev. Paul and Alice Messer Bingham born on September 12, 1942 at Walker.

Judy was a homemaker and a member of the Antioch United Baptist Church.  She enjoyed babysitting, cooking, sewing and reading.

On August 3, 1963, she united in marriage with William R. “Man” Cobb and to this union two children were born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters-in-law, Betty Bingham, Georgia Howard, Virginia Hubbard, Betty Corey, Ollie Corey, Wilma Corey and Glenda Cobb and brothers-in-law, Earl G. Smith and George Howard.

Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Rev. William R. “Man” Cobb of Woollum; two daughters, Sherri Hammons and husband, Scott, of Woollum and Robin Disney and husband, Jimmy, of Goodlettsville, TN; two sisters, M. Helen McKenzie and husband, David, of Louisa and Stella B. Smith and husband, John Bowling, of Barbourville; three brothers, Paul Bingham Jr. and wife, Wanda, of Milford, OH, Greene Bingham of Knox Fork and James Bingham and wife, Christi, of Lexington; four grandchildren, Lauren and Landon Hammons and Kelli and Austin Disney; a great granddaughter, Gracie Disney; a special niece and caregiver, Norma Trent; a sister-in-law, Martha Henisen and husband, John, of Rome, GA; brothers-in-law, W. C. Corey and Clyde Corey both of Laurel County, Perry Cobb of Green Road and Harold Hubbard of Williamsburg; among other nieces, nephews, loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, February 20 at 2:30 P.M. with Rev. Garrett Garland and Rev. Roger Liford officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Cobb, Hammons and Disney Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Landon Hammons, Austin Disney, Eddie Smith, Eddie Joe Smith, Buddy Abner, Waylon Corey, Austin Sprinkles, Keith Wilburn and Jeffery Wilburn.  Honorary bearers will be Dr. Charles Johnson, Dr. West and staff of the Barbourville ARH Hospital and friends and members of the Antioch United Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Thursday prior to the funeral hour.
