Mrs. Jenople Payne, 87, passed away Tuesday evening, December 13, 2022 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Sawyer and Laura Belle Warren Smith born on February 10, 1935 in Barbourville.
Jenople was a homemaker and was of the Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed keeping an immaculate house, redecorating, watching Jimmy Swaggart and spending time with family and friends.
On August 30, 1952, she united in marriage with Clarence Payne Jr., who preceded her in death.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Burford Smith; brothers-in-law, E.L. Burnette and Don Burton Mills; sister-in-law, Pauline Burnette and parents-in-law, Clarence Payne Sr. and Mary Payne.
Survivors include her sons, Rev. Larry Payne and wife, Bonnie, of Barbourville and Rev. Gary Payne and wife, Valerie, of Roxana, IL; a bother, Merrill Smith and wife, Ruby, of Lawrenceburg; a sister, Wanda Sue Mills Sanders and husband, Ronald, of Corbin; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Mary Smith, of Grundy, VA; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, December 21 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Larry Payne, John Knox Mills, Rev. Gary Payne and Bro. Earnest Broughton officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Warren Family Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
