Obituary for Janice Marie Vinson (1951-2020)

Janice Marie Vinson, age 69 of Cannon was born in Detroit, MI on June 21, 1951 to the late John and Laura Gibson Surgener and departed this life on Friday, December 25, 2020 at her home.  She was a member of Horn Branch Baptist Church and enjoyed going to Bingo, Cooking, singing, watching movies, traveling, and spending time with family and friends, especially the grandkids.

In addition to her parents, a sister: Gail Elliott; 4 brothers-in-law: Billy Elliott, Robert “Bob” Petrie, Eyvind Claxton, and Moss Vinson, Jr.; and her mother and father-in-law: Moss Vinson, Sr. and Roxie Vinson preceded her in death.

Janice is survived by her loving husband: LaFayette Vinson of Cannon; 2 daughters: Sherry Wise and husband Wayne of Taylor, MI, and Ann Morrison and husband Darrell of Barbourville, WVA; a son: Miles Jay Vinson and wife Collett of Hurricane, WVA; a brother: Johnny Surgener and wife Kim of Ypsilanti, MI; 3 sisters: Sharon Kay Claxton and Sue Petrie all of Belleville, MI, and Judy Hammons and husband Larry of Cannon, KY; 6 grandchildren: Earl Denny, Jr. and wife Ashley, Crystal Denny and companion Junior Ayala, Richie Denny and wife Kirsten, Cameron Morrison and wife Megan, Noah Morrison, and Holly Banfi and husband Andrew; 13 great grandchildren: and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Janice Vinson will be conducted in the Barbourville Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Jerry Vaughn bringing the Message and Brother Wayne Wise having Obituary, Prayer and Comments.  Burial will follow In the Patterson Cemetery with Richie Denny, Wayne Wise, Mickey Hammons, Doolittle Arthur, Bryan Elliott, Timmy Winnes, and Devin Arthur serving as Pallbearers.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the Nurses and Aids of Bluegrass Hospice, Vonda, and Mickey.  Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Friends may call at the Barbourville Funeral Home for a limited visitation Wednesday from 12 Noon to the Funeral Hour at 2.  Due to the continuing COVID-19 Pandemic, and new regulations from our Governor on gatherings all who attend will be required to wear face mask and practice Social Distancing.
