Janice Carnes Floyd, age 68, of Corbin, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Baptist Health Corbin.
Born in Knox County, KY, she was a daughter to the late McCoy Carnes and Doxie Williamson Carnes. She was a Baptist by faith.
Janice was known for her famous fried chicken recipe, a treat she loved to cook for her family and friends. Her culinary skills were not just about the food she made, they were an expression of her love and care. Janice loved spending time with her sisters, who were not just her siblings, but her best friends. She also cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will live on in their hearts. Janice’s life was a tapestry of love, compassion, and generosity, woven together by her faith and commitment to her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Coleen Bales; nephew, Brian Bales; and sister-in-law, Betty Carnes.
She is survived by her husband, James Floyd; children, Jennifer Walker (Bryan), Jonathan Mills, Jill Mathews (Eric), Heather Floyd Jones, and David Floyd; siblings, McCoy Carnes Jr. (Madge), Mary Mills, Rex Carnes (Judy), Jackie Abner (Bobby), Philip Carnes (Vickie), Madeline Mays (Jimmy), Diane Carnes, Linda Hughley (Randy), and Donna Cain (Billie); brother-in-law, David Bales; her special Friend for 40 years, Erma Parker, and by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 12-3pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where her funeral service will follow at 3pm with Rev. Josh Smith and Rev. Bryan Walker officiating.
