Obituary for James Vanover (1933-2024)

James Vanover, age 91 of Kayjay was born in Knox County, KY on February 8, 1933 to the late Earl and Rebecca Davis Vanover and departed this life on August 16, 2024 at his home.  He was a member of Piney Chapel Church and enjoyed cutting the grass, 4-wheeling, going to Car Shows, fishing and time with family and friends. 

In addition to his parents: Earl and Rebecca Vanover; a son: Eddie Dewayne Vanover; 3 brothers: Ronnie Vanover, Issac Vanover, and Johnny Vanover; and 2 sisters: Bobbie Manis and May Vanover preceded him in death.

James is survived by his loving children: Lee Robert Vanover of Kayjay, Rose Rebecca Prince and husband Terry Lee of Gray, and Donna Bruser and husband Tom of Cincinnati, OH; A half-brother: Roger Vanover and wife Linda of Georgetown, KY; 4 sisters: Barb Hill of Corbin, Irene West of MI, Erlene Stamper of Barbourville, and Linda Vanover of Williamsburg; a half-sister: Lynn Smith of Barbourville; 4 grandchildren: Rebecca Teague, Mary House, Connie Bays, and Stephanie Bruser; 2 great grandchildren: Henry James Jones, and Oakland Bays; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral Services for Mr. James Vanover will be conducted in the Barbourville Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dale Phipps officiating.  Burial will follow in the Goldens Creek Cemetery with Rick Jones, David Jones, Lee Vanover, and other family and friends serving as Pallbearers.  Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Barbourville Funeral Home Sunday Evening from 6 to 9 PM, and Monday from 10 AM to the funeral hour at 2.
