Mr. James Kenneth White Jr., 67, of Barbourville, passed away Wednesday evening, June 26, 2024 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. He was born on February 13, 1957 in Barbourville to the late James Kenneth White Sr. and Consuela “Connie” Mays White.
James was a humble and kind man. He was a retired welder from the CSX Railroad and a member of the Wayman Chapel AME Church of Barbourville. He was known to be strong in his faith and a man of God. He enjoyed spending time with his children and most of all his beloved grandchildren. His love for them did not go unnoticed as you could see from the many pictures on the mantle in his living room. James checked in daily with his State Burners Motorcycle Club brothers and sisters and spent many years on the road with them. He loved snacking on ice chips and pecan pies. In the past, he dedicated more than 10 years to Knox Central High School as an assistant coach and equipment manager.
On December 14, 1997, he united in marriage with Lana Gail Whitley, who preceded him in death.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Olivia Lynette White and two brothers, Todd White and Robert “Eddie” White.
Survivors include his dearly loved children, Corey Deondrea Whitley and wife, Kutura, Justin James White and Sara Rejai Powers and husband, Jason; two sisters, Vanessa Brown and Mavetta Rejai Swope and husband, Ron; a brother, Oliver White and wife, Yvonne, and 15 dearly loved grandchildren. James was dedicated to his family and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who will be great missed by everyone who loved and cherished him.
A celebration of his life will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, July 5 at 5 P.M. with Pastor Louise Spencer, Pastor Pamela Reed and Pastor Jeff Washington officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Rosenwald Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Nicholas Gambrel, Robert Maddix, Jason Powers, Justin White, Corey Whitley and Ricky Willis. Honorary bearers will be the members of the State Burners Motorcycle Club and the dedicated employees of the Pineville Dialysis Center and Baptist Health Corbin Oncology.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday after 3 P.M. until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
