Mr. James F. Bays, 95, of Barbourville, passed away Sunday morning, January 16, 2022 at Baptist Health Corbin. He was the son of the late Boyd and Margarette Noe Bays born on November 13, 1926 in Knox County.
Mr. Bays faithfully served his country in the United States Army during World War II, serving in Germany. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 119 Goshen, OH and was of the Baptist faith. He was a proud steel machinist and local union steward throughout his career in Cincinnati, OH. He especially loved moving back to his grandfather’s farm in 1995 to be close to family and his beloved only grandchild, Cameron Warren.
On December 18, 1954, he united in marriage with Azalee “Ann” Barnett Bays and to this union a daughter was born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Bays; brothers, William Jessie Bays and Alford Hershel Bays; a sister-in-law, Mildred Bays and a brother-in-law, Clayton Ledford.
Survivors include his loving daughter, Linda Bays Warren and husband, Aaron, of Barbourville; a sister, Nora Helen Bays Ledford of Taylor Mill; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Bays of Radcliff; a treasured grandson, Cameron Aaron Warren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; among other loved ones and dear friends.
A private family graveside service will be conducted in the Warfield Cemetery Monday, January 24 with Rev. Tom Patterson and Rev. Tyler Shields officiating.
Expressions of sympathy may go to the Masonic Lodge 187 F & AM or to the First Baptist Church of Barbourville in his memory.
