Mr. James Edward Shepherd, age 74 of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Friday, April 17, 2021 at home with his loving family around him. He was born on October 6, 1946 in Laurel County, the son of Evan Roscoe and Gracie Mae (Overbay) Shepherd. In 1963 he united in marriage with Arlene Burnet. James was a member of the Heritage Of Truth Tabernacle Church and had retired form Ford Motor Company. He loved spending time with his family, deer hunting and riding his side by side.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Evan Roscoe and Gracie May (Overbay) Shepherd, his beloved wife, Arlene (Burnett) Shepherd, and siblings Hayward, Willie, Richard, Evan, Jr, Clifford and Anna Lee.
Survivors include brothers, Don W. Shepherd and wife Janice of Bimble, John Shepherd and wife Nancy of Barbourville and Kenneth Shepherd of Clinton, Tennessee, and one sister, Imogene Hueling of Barbourville, and his beloved companion Bo.
Funeral services for Mr. James Shepherd will be conducted in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Craig Thomas officiating. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11:00 until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
