Jack Douglas Crabtree, 92, of Corbin, KY passed away Friday morning, January 29, 2021 at his home.
He was born in Middlesboro, KY, a son of the late Joshua T. and Lotus Oliver Crabtree. In addition he was preceded in death by his son Josh R. Crabtree and four brothers: George, Leonard, Josh, and infant Billy Crabtree.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Chandler Crabtree; his daughter, Kathy Campbell; six grandchildren: Jack Douglas Champlin, Josh Edward Champlin, Stephanie Helen Champlin, Chelsea Elizabeth Harvey, Joshua David Steven Crabtree, and Jacklyn RaeAnn Crabtree; and thirteen great grandchildren.
Jack was a graduate of Corbin High School and worked as plant superintendent at the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. in Corbin for several years. As an entrepreneur, in 1967 he purchased the drive-in now known as the Root Beer Stand in Corbin. His personal management and dedicated employees have made it one of southeastern Kentucky’s best-known and most successful restaurants.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, January 31, at Rest Haven Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Frost officiating. All persons attending should wear a face covering and practice social distancing there.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church where Jack and Helen have been faithful members.
