Mr. Isaac “Ike” William Hensley, 71, of Boone Height, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 28, 2024, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was the son of the late Cam Byrd and Dorothea Mae Hale Hensley born May 24, 1953, in Knox County.
Ike was the former owner and operator of several businesses. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and especially his grandbabies. He enjoyed collecting and trading knives, and mostly engaging in games of chance, especially poker machines. Ike was also an avid lottery player whose winning numbers were always the next play away.
Family members who preceded him in death include his parents, Cam and Freda Hensley, Dorothea and Mart Gray; wife, Deborah Aslin and sisters, Wilma Mills, Robin Sweet, and Phyllis Lockhart.
Survivors include his loving children, Deanna Kasitz and husband, Michael, of Clarksville, TN, Kimberly Smith and husband, A. J., of Barbourville, Darrin Hensley and wife, Kim, of Corbin, Kimberly Roderos of Las Vegas, NV, Wendy Schultz and husband, J. D., of Port Orchard, WA and Tina Adkins of Williamsburg; sisters, Josie Hensley and Paul, and Jean Carter all of Barbourville; a brother, Michael Hensley and wife, Lisa, of London; step-siblings, Rosemary Rutledge and husband, Danny, Arnie, Daniel, and Arlene Lewis. He also leaves behind treasured grandchildren, Joshua Smith and wife, Sarah, Alexander Smith and wife, Marissa, Kaylee Messer and husband, Brett, Kora Smith, Olivia and Deklynn Kasitz, Carlin Hensley, Anthony Danshaw and wife, Megan, Samantha Walters and husband, Dustin, Jessicca Collett and husband, Cameron, and Paige Shultz and fiancé, Connor; cherished great grandchildren, Kiara, Oliver, Avery, Finn, Serenity, Aiden, Luke, Zoee, Bailey, Camilla and Gwendolyn; several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins; among other loved ones and dear friends.
The family will host a celebration of his life at the Smith Event Technologies Building, 838 Swan Pond Road, Barbourville on Sunday, September 8 from 1:00-3:00 P.M.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the children’s charity of your choice.
