Ms. Irma Gail McWilliams, 69, of Barbourville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 8, 2021 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Victor R. McWilliams Sr. and Ora Lee McWilliams born on February 5, 1952 in Knox County.
Irma was a former licensed practical nurse at the Laurel Heights Home For The Elderly and a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. She enjoyed taking care of her granddogs, Chewie, Hershey and Charlotte, watching sitcoms and crime shows, playing solitaire and spending time with her children, grandchildren and siblings.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Dudley McWilliams; a sister, Geraldine Rybski; five brothers, Cecil, Jerry Wayne, Stanley, Leroy and Victor McWilliams; grandparents, Emma and Daniel Lee and Dudley and Delia McWilliams; two nieces, Tammy and Jennifer McWilliams and two nephews, Stanley Ray and Dennis McWilliams.
Survivors include her beloved daughter, Patty McWilliams Messer and fiancé, Wayne Brummett, of Barbourville; treasured grandchildren, Brandi Carter and husband, Scott, of Berea, Bradley Simpson and fiancé, Whitney, and Skylar Simpson all of Barbourville; a great grandson, Marcus Carter; sisters, Nancy Young and husband, Clarence, of East Bernstadt, Delia Hale of Barbourville, Vivian Lambert and husband, Russell, of London; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Monday, September 13 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Roger Wolfe officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Jason McWilliams, Kevin Brown, T. J. Lambert, Terry Stanton, Wayne Brummett and Robert McWilliams. Serving as honorary bearers will be Jacob McWilliams and Stephen Lambert.
Irma’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Melinda Smith and her staff of the Daniel Boone Family Healthcare, Dr. James West and staff of the Barbourville ARH Hospital, DeeAnn Woolum, Wayne Brummett and his children for the love and care shown to Irma during her illness.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Monday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
