Mrs. Irene Jackson, 80 years old, went home to be with the Lord, on June 4, 2021 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Irene was born December 19, 1940, to Clarence Smith and Nola (Smith) Smith in Otter Creek, Clay County, Kentucky. She was united in marriage to Fred Jackson, and to this union, two children were born. She was a long-time member of Horn Branch Baptist Church and had a life time ministry singing with her sisters and mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Nola Smith, infant son Stephen Jackson, three sisters, Ermolee Smith Leona Messer, Elva Jean Smith, two brothers, Carson Smith and Reece Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Allen and husband Harry of Girdler, two grandchildren, Letecia Runyon of Artemus and Cody Mills and wife Lausha of Girdler, four great grandchildren, Emma Messer, Addyson Cox, Bristol Cox and Ava Kate Cox all of Artemus, one brother, Melvin Smith and wife Eller of Hinkle, and two sisters, Ilene Hubbard and husband James of Hinkle and Ernestine Collins of Hinkle. She also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
The funeral service will be conducted in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Ricky Broughton and Rev. Mickie Smith officiating and family serving as pallbearers. She will be laid to rest in the Callebs Creek Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 4:00.
