Mrs. Ima Jean Foley, 74, of Barbourville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 18, 2022 at the LaFollette Health and Rehabilitation Center in LaFollette, TN. She was the daughter of the late Jeff and Hattie Mae Smith Powell born on March 26, 1947 in Knox County.
Ima Jean was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed quilting, working word search puzzles, reading and cooking some of her favorites, soup beans, cornbread and chicken and dumplings.
On September 5, 1970, she united in marriage with Jakie Foley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jakie; three sisters, Troy Smith, Marie Donnelly and Anna Sue Smith; a brother, Morgan Powell; a grandson, Jackie Ray Peters; a great grandchild, Oliver Peters and parents-in-law, Jacob Rector and Martha Ellen Lowe Foley.
Survivors include four beloved children, Cecil Powell and wife, Mary, of Caryville, TN, Jennifer Mills and husband, Steve, of Barbourville, Jack Peters of Dewitt and Carson Peters of Danville, AL; two sisters, Berthie Rose of Jarvis and Lois Jones of Barbourville; a brother, Clifton Powell of London; treasured grandchildren, Sara Reed, Cecil Powell Jr., Matthew Powell, Lauren Powell, Cody Mills, Timothy Peters, Tyler Peters, Christopher Toothman, Scotty Peters and Jonathon Peters; great grandchildren, Jett and Ethan Patterson, Lyla Grace Powell, Timmy Peters Jr., Thomas, Tyson, Patience, Tyson, Levi, Adalee, Cason, Gracie, Lexi, Walker, Olivia and Phillip Peters; a special uncle, Walter Smith of Barbourville; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, January 23 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Lonnie Collett officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Foley Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Cecil Powell Jr., Matthew Powell, Kevin Patterson, Jr. Smith, Timmy Peters and Tyler Peters.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Sunday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
