Mr. Howard Powell, 95, of Bimble, departed this life peacefully at his home with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Joe and Axie Sizemore Powell born January 5, 1929 in Knox County.
Howard was kind and humble with a generous spirit, always willing to help someone in need. He believed in the value of hard work, retiring from Chrysler after 33 years of service. In his spare time, he enjoyed horseback riding and taking long walks with his dog, Sadie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his precious grandparents, Marshal and Ellen Powell and John and Amanda Sizemore; brothers, John Marshal and Leemon Powell; sisters-in-law, Doris and Jewell Dean Powell and brother-in-law, Rondal Mills.
Survivors include his brothers, Everett Powell and wife, Stella, of Bimble and Willard Powell of Bowling Green; sisters, Evelyn Powell Mills and Pauline Powell, both of Bimble, Lois Stanek and husband, Tom, of Northville, MI; niece, Dr. Melissa Powell Traynelis and husband, Dr. Chris and their daughter, Katie; nephews, John Timothy Powell and wife, Misty and their children, Haley and Jacob and Randall Willard Powell and friend, Nickey; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Monday, September 9 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Josh Smith officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Yeager and Powell Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers will be John Timothy Powell, Chris Traynelis, Bobby Carmack, Paul Carmack, Jerry Carmack and James Dunn.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday between 6 and 8 P.M. and on Monday after 10 A.M. until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
