Mrs. Helen Jean Davis, 86, of Barbourville, passed away Friday morning, April 7, 2023 at her home. She was the daughter of the late General and Mary Davis Jackson born on September 10, 1936 in Knox County.
Helen was a homemaker, a member of the Roadside Baptist Church and attended the Springfield Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening and tending her yard.
On April 19, 1957, she united in marriage with Charles Leonard Davis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; a sister, Edith Lois Jackson and a special cousin, Bill Davis.
Survivors include her daughter by choice not by birth, Gina DeLong; a grandson, Jacob; granddaughter, Alicia and husband, Erik; a great granddaughter, Addison; a great grandson, Whitten; special friends and neighbors including Barbara and Wayne Smith, Earlene and Alford Mills, Alice Davis, Buddy and Nancy Noel; special cousins too many to name; her beloved church family; among other loved ones and dear friends who had a special part in her life and a special place in her heart.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, April 14 at 6 P.M. with Rev. Mike Helton officiating. Following cremation, the ashes of Charles and Helen will be buried in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Serving as honorary casket bearers will be Nadine Smith, Priscilla Abner, Betty Wallace, Lila Farmer and Shirley Smith.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday after 4 P.M. until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
