Mrs. Hazel Matlock, 88, of Bryants Store, the widow of Elvert “Rabb” Matlock, passed away Wednesday evening, May 26, 2021 at Baptist Health Corbin. She was the daughter of the late Easom and Leonna Miller McKeehan born on May 4, 1933.
Hazel was a homemaker and a devoted member of the Little Poplar Creek Baptist Church and dearly loved her church family. She enjoyed cooking, being outdoors tending flowers and loved her pet cat and companion, “Dolly”.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Powers and Gladys Reeves and two brothers, Walter and Charles McKeehan.
Survivors include her loving children Brenda Lane and husband, Lonnie, of Columbia and Elvert “Buster” Matlock and wife, Debbie, of Bryants Store; a brother, Easom “Junior” McKeehan of Bryants Store; five grandchildren, David and Daniel Matlock, Pamela Phipps and husband, Donnie, Shannon and Lonnie Lane Jr. and wife, Sharon; six great grandchildren, Josh and Rachael Phipps, Jackson Evans and Julia, Alyssa and Luke Lane; a great-great granddaughter, Nova; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted at the Little Poplar Creek Baptist Church Sunday, May 30 at 11 A.M. with Rev. Ronnie Rose and Rev. Bill Gray officiating. She will be laid to rest in the McKeehan Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be family and friends. Serving as honorary bearers will be Larry, David and Ted McKeehan, Nancy and Jennifer Goodin, Barbara Peace, Jerry Gray and the Little Poplar Creek Baptist Church Choir.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday between 6 and 8 P.M. and at the church Sunday prior to the funeral hour.
