Obituary for Hazel Mae Thomas (1945-2020)

Hazel Mae Thomas, age 75 of Gray was born in Knox County, KY on July 16, 1945 to the late Fred and Mary Fisher Disney and departed this life on December 11, 2020 in the Barbourville ARH Hospital.  She was a member of Lovell Church and enjoyed Reading, Gardening, Ginseng hunting, going to Church, and Flea Marketing.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and wife.

In addition to her parents, her husband: S. R. Thomas; a daughter: Betty Faye Thomas; a brother: Claude Disney; and 2 sisters: Helen Burke, and Eula Faye Jackson preceded her in death.

She is survived by her loving children: Jerry Thomas and wife Carol of Corbin, Ralph Thomas and wife Brenda of Gray, Kathy Jackson and husband Eugene, and Connie Brock and husband Estill all of Barbourville; a brother: Fred Disney, Jr. and wife Ruth of Gray; 12 grandchildren: Jared, Lani, Dean, Robert, Brandon, Donna, Stacy, James, Trever, Hannah, Dustin, and Tyler; best friend: Bobbie Sue Hubbard; special friends: Bill Brown, Dr. James West, Don and Janie Napier, and Gary and Deb Martin; other relatives and many friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Hazel Thomas will be conducted in the Barbourville Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Jeff Lewis and Rev. Orangie Wheat officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hutchins Cemetery with the Grandsons serving as Pallbearers.  Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Friends may call at the Barbourville Funeral Home Tuesday Evening from 6 to 9 P.M., and Wednesday from 10 A.M. to the funeral hour at 2.  Due to the continuing COVID-19 Pandemic, and new regulations from our Governor gatherings will be limited to 25 people and all who attend will be required to wear face mask and practice Social Distancing.  Due to these regulations, we will have a Register outside under the porch for those who wish to stop by and sign.
