Mrs. Hazel Evelyn Watkins, age 96 of Himyar, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, May 5, 2024, in the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the widow of Joe Watkins and the daughter of Clarence and Laura (Clouse) Turner born to them on December 9, 1927, in Pineville, Kentucky.
Hazel was a member of the Himyar Baptist Church. She enjoyed shopping, quilting and being with her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband Joe Watkins, her parents, Clarence and Laura Turner and six siblings, Edward Turner, Estill Turner, Clarence Turner, Jr., Wilma Miracle, Milred Massengill and Marlene Vogel.
Left behind to mourn her passing, her four children, Howard Watkins of London, Joe Lynn Watkins and wife Judy of Himyar, Dianna Hammons of Floyd’s Knob, Indiana and Neil Watkins and wife Gina of Artemus, two brothers, Lowell Turner and wife Roberta and Carl Turner and wife Dorothy all of Pineville, seven grandchildren, Howard Watkins, Jr., Lisa Smith, Darren Watkins, Jamie Scott, John Hammons, II, Joseph Hammons and Joshua Watkins. She also leaves behind many great and great-great nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Watkins will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Ralph Halcomb officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Farley Cemetery in Himyar. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
