Obituary for Hazel Beatrice Lawson (1935-2024)

Hazel Beatrice Lawson, 89, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.  Born January 6, 1935, she was the daughter of the late General F. Lake and Myrtie Lake.

In addition to her father and mother, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Lawson; and siblings: Marie Partin, Connie Williams, and Avious Eugene Lake.

Hazel leaves behind her daughter, Wanda Gail Meade; grandson, Shawn Meade and wife Dee; granddaughter, Kristain Meade; great-granddaughter, Shawna Nantz and husband Brandon; great-grandson, Joshua Meade and wife Kendra; great-great grandson, John Reed Nantz; and a special friend, Virginia Craighead.

Hazel was a hairdresser for over 25 years and truly loved her work.  She also enjoyed taking care of her home, especially cleaning the house.  A strong-willed woman, Hazel enjoyed traveling to Florida, driving herself as recently as two years ago to visit her special friend, Virginia Craighead.

Hazel was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 30, 2024, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Glen Wilson and Kenny Johnson officiating.  Entombment will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily, Kentucky.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2:00 P.M. Friday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street Corbin, KY 40701.
