Harry Lee Croley peacefully passed away surrounded by his family and in the arms of his loving wife, Zelma, on Monday evening at his home, November 2nd, 2020. He was born in Knox County on June 10, 1933 to Gladys Foley Croley and Charlie Croley.
He was a member of Kirkwood United Methodist Church in Irving, TX.
On September 30th, 1989, Harry was united in marriage to Zelma Wells, who was by his side when he passed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Melburn Croley and Russell Croley; and a special Aunt, Eunice Foley Gibson.
Harry is survived by his wife of 31 years, Zelma Croley, son Stephen Croley, daughter Lavonda Lambdin and son-in-law Mike Lambdin; Grandchildren John Elliott, Steve Elliott, Allan Croley, Carissa Croley, and Jerin Croley; and 5 great grandchildren.
He attended and graduated school in Louellen, KY, and moved to Texas in 1955. Harry was in the Air Force from 1953-1957, and spent 4 years in the Air Force Reserve. He then worked for Textron Bell Helicopter and retired after 37 1/2 years. Harry was a 32nd degree Mason at Lodge #1218 in Irving, TX. He returned to his boyhood home in Knox County, KY after retirement to work on his family farm.
Harry Croley never met a stranger. His jovial manner and easy smile always brought joy to family and friends alike. He was a loving husband, parent, grandparent and great grandparent, hard worker, and loved helping others. Harry especially had a love for children. He enjoyed mowing and working on his farm, and would always take the time to ask how others were doing. He will be missed by everyone that was blessed to know him.
The funeral service will include Masonic and military rites, and will begin at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 7th, 2020, with visitation from 12:00 PM to the funeral hour. Reverend Jimmy Siler will be the officiant. Pallbearers will be Mike Lambdin, Mike Wells, Zachary Croley, Allan Janes, and Steven Elliott. Honorary pallbearers are Herb Wells, Mark Patterson, Kenneth Jackson, Kenneth Cobb, Russell Croley, Matt Croley, Jay Rogers, and Jake Clairon. Burial will be at Memorial Garden Cemetery at Lily, KY.
Please remember, during the continuing COVID-19 event, capacity restrictions and social distancing guidelines will be followed during all services including the wearing of face coverings as mandated by the Governor of Kentucky for the safety of our families, guests and staff.
