Mr. Harold Lynn Smith, age 75, of Barbourville went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at his home. He was born on January 23, 1947, in Harlan, Kentucky. He was the son of Ellis Reese Smith and Eula Maxine (Warren) Smith. He was united in marriage with Rowena (Osborne) Smith on May 16, 1976, and to this union two sons were born. Many will remember him as an equipment operator for Barbourville Utilities where he retired after 33 years of service in 2000. He enjoyed watching UK sports and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Eula Maxine Smith, and five siblings, Joe Boone Smith, Ellis Smith, Jr., Shelby Smith and twins Chester and Frances Smith.
Left behind to mourn his passing, his loving family, wife, Rowena Smith of Barbourville, two sons, Jason Lynn Smith and wife Amber of Pineville and Brent Smith and wife Amy of Corbin, three grandchildren, Whitney Lynn Smith, Madison Piper Smith, and Mackenzie Grace Smith and one sister, Ima (Smith) Geiger and husband Jim of Corbin. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Harold Smith will be conducted on Monday, October 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Jeff Tingle of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bell County officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m.
